When we are given a present, we honour the giver to outwardly appreciate and use the gift. It’s the enjoyment of the gift that honours the giver.
Whilst I know this is true, I don’t often apply this to my ‘honouring of God’, which usually evokes words and actions like sacrifice, worship, prayer, faith and obedience. Rarely do we think of fun, laughter, feasting and parties as acts that honour God, but they are.
God has given us joyful hearts and He is a joyful God. Let’s honour that by celebrating with fun things, no matter what it is. Let’s feast and party and laugh with thankful hearts.
Now that is a challenge that I’m willing to accept. Do you?
