About Us

About Us
The Elim Pentecostal Church is a growing Movement of more than 550 Christian congregations in the Isle of Man, UK and Ireland.

Elim was founded in 1915 by George Jeffreys, a young Christian from Maesteg in South Wales. Jeffreys and a group of friends, known as the Elim Evangelistic Band, preached, started churches and witnessed a move of God that was characterised by miraculous healings and an explosion in the number of people becoming Christians.

History

The Church on the Rock began almost 25 years ago here in Ramsey.
We first started in a local hall with a congregation of no nore than 30/40 people.
Over the past 25 years the congregations has more than doubled insize and with its own building reaching into the community.

Where We Are Now

As the new millennium gathers pace we have developed into a group of people from different age groups and backgrounds.
From senior citizens to children and with a large group of young people in the mix there is a real flavour of family in the church. We are committed to enjoying life and having fun and yet remaining seriously passionate about following God! You will find that the messages are about real life issues whilst the music & worship is contemporary and lively!
We are not an average church and we are not committed to tradition. So feel free to join us regardless of your background, how you dress or indeed even what you believe! You are welcome!

Our Beliefs & Our Vision for the Future

In one part of the Bible it tells a story of how someone challenged Jesus about what was most important and how He responded!
One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “The most important one” answered Jesus, “is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Matthew 12: 28-31 NIV)
We believe that that God’s Church (by which we mean the people & not the building) should fulfil these commands of Jesus!
So we are committed to encouraging one another to realise how much they are loved by God get to know Him deeply! We also want to see people grow in their relationship with God! We believe that a major part of this is how we as Christ followers, live out our lives in our community!
The ‘Church’ must demonstrate the love of God through action as well as words and this means getting involved with and helping our community to be the best that it can be!
So our vision is as Jesus once said, is to be “salt & light” where we live, by rising up to the challenge of meeting the needs in our community!
